While visiting the official Elder Scrolls website (http://www.elderscrolls.com/index.php), I'd noticed that they're celebrating the 10th anniversary of the Elder Scrolls series. Complete with a press announcement.

Add to that the fact that their offering the full version of the game that started it all 10 years ago -- The Elder Scrolls: Arena™ -- for free, from their Downloads section (http://www.elderscrolls.com/downloads/downloads_games.htm).

I haven't been to the site in a while, but I'd just noticed this news announcement from this last June 16th...

New Job Openings
We are looking for talented world artists and programmers to join our team that is pushing the bleeding-edge of RPG development for the PC and future-generation consoles. For more information, read the full job postings here (http://www.bethsoft.com/links/bethsoft_jobs.html).

Those job openings include positions for a "World Artist" and a "Programmer".

Now, I haven't heard anything for certain. But could all of this mean that the location, storyline, and a bunch of the text for Elder Scrolls 4 is already completed; and now they're looking for enough artists and programmers to start the next phase of development ??

I don't know. But I thought I'd whet your beaks just a little bit anyways.

Gaim's prediction..... Elder Scrolls IV on the shelves in mid 2006. :D:

Don't forget Gaim, this "bleeding edge" RPG may also be Fallout 3, which they are also developing.

I think I read in a recent interview when they acquired the license for Fallout 3 (on Gamespot I think) that they said they are developing the next Elder Scrolls game and Fallout 3 concurrently.

In case any of you mised it. Over the weekend 3D Gamers has The Elder Scrolls II: Daggerfall Betony demo now online.
A special catch-up addition today: besides the original online demo for The Elder Scrolls II: Daggerfall, the 1996 first-person role-playing game by Bethesda Softworks, another larger demo was released at the time through magazine cover-disks, but it was hard to find a copy anywhere for download. With the kind assistance of community members Sean Brown and David McCray we can now offer a reliable location for this Daggerfall Betony demo, which allows you to experience a sizable chunk of the game.
