It's only a trailer, but the rumour is that Satan was seen shopping for thick woollen overcoats and a snowplough.

Funny, I can't imagine this game has any relevance anymore, or why anyone would still be excited about a sequel to a game that old, after all this time.
What could they possibly do with it, that hasn't been done 100X over already?

Like everyone else, I'll believe it when I see it.
That being said, if it's true, and the reviews are decent, I'll be one of the first in line, and it will pre-empt every other game I would have currently planned to play that day...in 2010. :p:
Honestly, if they can keep the same irreverent humor and tone the original FPS had, I'll be perfectly happy. (Not to be a prude, but I'm not sure how I'd react if it has the same attitude towards women that the original had, though. I'm a bit older now, the genre's a bit older and hopefully more mature and the graphics are a lot more life-like than they were back in the 90's.)

Anything is possible.. rumors may finally ring true about the arrival of this long-awaited episode.
But since when is it fashionable for Duke to chomp stogies? He never did before, being a stalwart for "purity". "When Pigs Fly"? (http://www.snowcrest.net/kitty/hpages/pigfly.html)

That music is pure torture.
Could you imagine having to listen to that for all eternity?

That's it??? You've got to be kidding! Hell, nVidia's little clip that tells you whether your computer will play Crysis, or not, puts that thing to shame. Edward.
Play Crysis? (http://www.readyforcrysis.com/?UHJpdmF0ZXxFZGRlcmtzQGFvbC5jb218NjYyN2E2OWRiYzM3M DA0ZTQzZmUwZTFiMTgwODZmM2E=)

That is a "TEASER" alright!

I thought the gameplay looked like fun and it had plenty of the irreverent humor that gave the original an edge.
Frankly, I couldn't care less if the graphics looked dated. IMO, photorealism is by far the single most over-rated aspect of games these days. Give me great level designs, stylish art, unique enemies, fun weapons, NPCs with real attitude, humor, good pacing and most of all interesting gameplay any day.
Now, whether this teaser indicates the game will actually get completed and released any time this century is another matter entirely...

Meh, I was kind of disappointed by that, 10 years for a 1 minute mediocre teaser.

Anyone else get the impression they didn't show any gameplay because there is no game? All they showed was something a high school kid could have thrown together over a weekend.

"D'oh! Wait! We just learned that a new graphics engine has been released. We have to delay the game another 4 years - minimum - while we rewrite the game code again!"

The video I watched actually had quite a bit of (what appeared to be) in-game footage.
Also noticed there are two on Kalbrecht's above linked page - one called a "Teaser" and the other a "Trailer". I guess I must have viewed the Trailer, which has very dated looking graphics but lots of gameplay action.
Cheers, Terry
P.S.
Yep, it was defintely the Trailer. Not sure why it loaded last time but have now seen the new Teaser and you're right Chip, there are no in-game scenes that I can see.
The question is, have they been able to salvage some of the earlier work or have they scrapped everything and started from scratch with each new game engine?

Yep - the Teaser's pretty nothing alright. A lot of that stuff looks salvaged from previous material - the demons look like they did the last time I saw them - like something ripped straight out of Doom 3, or more accurately - Prey.
Actually - you know what MIGHT be cool? If DNF was set in the same universe as Prey, and was telling the same events from Duke's perspective. That might actually work.

Heck Chai, I'd settle for Duke Goes To The Petting Zoo at this point.

From Wired, which has (once again) named Duke Nukem Forever in it's Top Vaporware list.
"A commenter on our 2000 Vaporware awards joked that Van Halen would reunite with David Lee Roth and release a new album before Duke Nukem Forever hits the shelves. Ironically, the re-formed band plans to head into the studio in just a few months. Reader Tiberian Fiend, who pointed this out to us, says, "Old jokes become sad reality as development on Duke Nukem Forever trudges on.... "
