GameSpy has interviewed (http://pc.gamespy.com/pc/neverwinter-nights-ii/536369p1.html) Obsidian about Neverwinter Nights 2. I especially liked this statement: "We are really going to focus on putting in a strong, epic single-player story that is supported with stunning graphics that really put people in the Forgotten Realms."
I, for one, am not tired of the Forgotten Realms yet. Looks like something to look forward to :):

Can anyone give me a somewhat detailed explanation of the Forgotten Realms. I know there are many books set in the Forgotten Realms universer and I have heard of Elminster and I believe a few others, but all of my reading was with the DragonLance books. Basically, what is the Forgotten Realms and how should this effect NWN's 2?

Rob, that would be hard since FR is a huge setting, but I can try. I am not a D&D expert but I know the basics.
The FR's are located on a planet called Toril, which holds three major continents: Faerun, Kara-Tur and another which I don't remember the name. Faerun is the best-known and most popular continent, as it is where most FR campaigns and pretty much every FR game takes place.
Faerun features pretty much every climate you could think of. Tropical islands, icefields, deserts, you name it. Every race lives on it, although humans are the dominant race. Magic is very important to the FR setting, be it clerical or arcane. There are dozens of deities as well.
The Baldur's Gate games took place in the middle regions of the western coast, near the city of Baldur's Gate and the nation of Amn. Neverwinter Nights took place further north on the western coast, around and in the city of Neverwinter.
The FR setting also holds the Underdark, which is basically a subterranean world of kilometer high and long tunnels and caves.
Well, that wasn't very detailed, but I hope it helps. I sure do feel like a nerd now :D:
