Half-life exe.files

Half-life says my execuitible files are out of date. How do i correct this?
When it checks for updates it says, cannot connect to internet.

I think you have to use steam now to play go to www.steampowered.com and download steam client. Register a username and password with your HL cdkey and you'll be able to play HL and bunch of mods as well =]
