In the days when MS-DOS still ruled the PC desktop, and long before atmospheric thrillers such as Resident Evil and Silent Hill, a seminal PC game pioneered a new genre. In all its pixelated glory, Infogrames' now-classic Alone in the Dark introduced gamers to the survival horror genre. After a number of forgettable sequels, the series is being resurrected by Atari on the PC and current consoles. Set for release later this year, will Alone in the Dark: Near Death Investigation (or Alone in the Dark 5) return the series to its acclaimed roots?
