From Gamershell:
Previously slated for a Q4 2004 launch, S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Shadow of Chernobyl carries now a Q1 2005 release date "in order to maximize its sales potential", announced THQ revealing fiscal 2005 first quarter results.
* Riiiiigght.......or because ....." We don't want to compete with Doom and HL"
Whatever,.....if everyone was that worried about it, then we wouldn't be seeing the huge number of games coming in September.
Go ahead a run away,....I'll see you "When it's done"....

I don't mind delays. It can only lead to a better game. This one is going to stay on my list, no matter what :):

I had a feeling this was going to happen. This is a very ambitious title, I just hope they can actually pull it off by the new date. I will be first in line to buy it.

This game sure does look interesting though. An FPS with clans, bartering and what seems to be an open ended gaming environment would sure be a lot of fun if they can pull it off.

I wasn't really excited about this game until a few weeks ago when they released that bundle of walkthroughs, this game definately looks nice, and I don't want them to release it unpolished.

Good attidude guys, I wish ppl could have had this attidude when doom III and HL2 were delayed... the more time they have to work on it, the better it will be.
"in order to maximize its sales potential" really deos sound like an effort to avoid competition, but hey, it means we don't have to be playing 3 games at the same time. Imagine waking up and deciding weather to play DOOM III, HL2, or STALKER!
Ha, im laughing just thinking about the idea.

Not sure why you're rolling your eyes, or labelling them with a 'when it's done' insult.
How many of those games coming out in September are in direct comparison and competition to HL2 and Doom3? STALKER, Far Cry, Doom 3 and HL2 have all been 'in the same breath' in pretty much every mag (and now STALKER, Doom 3 and HL2 since Far Cry was released).
In addition, if you were a smaller developer, would you want to release a game to compete directly with the two biggest FPS names in the business?
I completely sympathise and wish them well for a later release. I sure as hell wouldn't want to release a scifi/tech FPS in the next few months.

A little OT,
The stock took a hit after they said they were going to blow the quarter due to the delay. If STALKER is gonna be that good (haven't followed the development all that much), I'm wondering if now is a good buying opportunity??

Yes but if it ISN'T that good then you waste lots of money. Computer games are a bit risky really.
Invest in something safe and unethical like tabacco. :joker:
