In an unusual move, Ubi Soft Entertainment has recalled the recent version 1.2 retail patch for Far Cry, due to "unexpected behaviour on specific hardware configurations. These matters are mainly due to incompatibilities with several optimisations brought lately to the code, with the intent to please a large number of users." Consequently we have restored the version 1.1 patch.

Bummer. I guess I'm glad I already finished and had no need for the patch.

I played with the 1.2 patch and my sound hardware went silent on the ambient sounds as well as Mp5 and footstep effects over all objects(Soundblaster Audigy 2 zs platnum pro/Kilpsch Pro media 5.1) I was quite sad...turns out what happens is Antialiasing on my Geforce fx pro effected the sound output...odd, and still not certian of problem, but after several different Very high..high..medium..and low settings all were effected By aniscroptic and antialiasing..i guess we wait and see what the NEXT patch will address. Any questions you have ask away, I have been trying things for the past 2 hours on and off.
Have a good day
