Its gone gold! All I need to do now is buy a new pc to play the game!Do you guys think it will require a much more powerful system than FarCry?Also why is there only a coop mode on Xbox? That just sucks.

I don't remember where I read it, but I heard the "recommended" specs were supposed to be 2 Ghz processor, 512MB RAM, Radeon 9800. If it's true, my system should perform pretty well. I don't need all the bells and whistles turned on.

This game will auto-check your pc specs and will adjust settings in the game accordingly. Of course you will still be able to manually adjust settings. The minimum required video card the game will run on is a geforce 3 card. I also read the game is designed to look even better on hardware which isn't even out yet! So this will definitely be one game worth checking out again in a year or two. Also while the sound is excellent in the game, the sound delivered is more cpu driven rather than being audio card dependent. This means it will also sound fairly good on pc's with on board sound. 5.1 directional sound is definitely recommended.
NotsoFast is on target with the recommended specs. However with the "intelligent settings" designed in the game it will still run on slower machines with some of the eye candy disabled, but it will still look pretty good.
If you're unsure it's sometimes best to just wait and try playing the game on your system, then upgrade as needed.

I was in Best Buy eyeing the 9800 cards. I "almost" grabbed one but I resisted. I'll stick with my 9600 Pro and see how it goes. I also noticed they had the Doom 3 pre-order boxes on the shelf.
I read that a demo will be released sometime after the game releases. For those not in a huge rush to buy the game and aren't sure whether their machines will run the game adequately, you can always wait until the demo comes out and give it a run for its money on your machine to check out the performance.

I just bought a 9800 Pro to upgrade my HTPC's 9500NP, It has a 2000+ and a 512mb stick of ram in there now, but I really want to throw in another stick of ram and get a 3200+ in there (not just for doom). It takes a lot to run games at 1776x1000, but damn does it look good.

I'm always highly suspicious of ANY game that is released before it's free demo is made public.

4 player limit online mode. Look for the mod community to raise that number sometime in the future.

I think it is 4 player deathmatch right now. The xbox version is going to have a co-op as far as I know, but I don't think the PC has one.

Someone already made doom 3 coop. I saw a video of it on planetdoom. I bet we will be getting tons of coop mods within a week.
