Impressions:
It was a farking biatch to install. Seriously, what were the Q&A testers at Creative Assembly doing? It took me 4 game reinstalls to get it to work! Seriously, it sucked considering the game is on 2 dvd's and the patch takes over 15min to install!
However it was all worth it! :): They fixed quite a bit of issues including that passive AI bug. And they also added in a bunch of new stuff too. Cant wait for the Kingdoms expansion to come out =]
Here is the proper procedure to install the patch so you wont have any corrupted game files problem:
1. Uninstall the game, delete the directory, delete any registry entries.
2. Reboot.
3. Install the game
4. Reboot
5. Install the patch. Make sure no game files are modified, including that descr_strat.txt file! Make sure you don't do anything else while it's patching. It may or may not cause a problem. Disable your anti-virus program too.
6. Reboot
7. Launch the game
8. Start campaign or quick battle, whatever, your choice.
9. During the loading screen, prey that the game wont crash.
10. If all worked out, you should be able to play the game. If not, time to reinstall the game and try again. Maybe download patch from different source, or be more careful.
