Hey guys and ladies! I am an avid fps gamer and im wanting to know if there is a recommended game pad or controller that any of u use when playing fps?? Does such a device speed up gameplay or reflexes or am i better off just sticking with my keyboard and mouse??

nothing beats speed and reflexes than keyboard and mouse for FPS games. Even though the xbox360 controller is pretty badass, I still prefer k/m gameplay =]

I played FPS with a controller on my PC for a long time. I grew up a console gamer so it felt more natural to me. However, after being forced to try the keyboard and mouse, I would never go back to the controller for FPS. The keyboard/mouse combo is simply much faster and accurate.

Yeah, mouse & keyboard, that's all you really need.

You'll find old-school gamers vastly prefer a basic PC setup to any kind of gamepad, because it's really the most precise way to play many genres. (RTS & FPS, for example.)

A good mouse will help out a bit.

Look for a good scroll wheel, make sure it's not one of those smooth scrolling ones.
Also, an optical mouse is the way to be, get rid of your dirty old ball mouse.

Edit: For the keyboard, try to avoid any funky new keyboard with an oddball key configuration, you want a classic qwerty setup above all else. (For compatibility reasons, mostly with older games.)

No controller compares to the keyboard.mouse setup.

The XBox360 controller is the most comfortable, but still lacks the precision and speed.

I use 360 controller for PC racing games, because of the analog breaking/acceleration. Because with a standard keyboard, you're either 100% throttle or 0%, and some racing games require precision throttle control.

Yeah, well, certain games are better suited to certain kinds of control inputs.

There's a reason you don't see a lot of DMC/GoW style actioners on the PC.

^ They're just better suited to gamepad control.

Likewise, i sure as **** can't imagine playing Supreme Commander on the consoles.

Nothing beats the flexibility of the keyboard for movement control. The mouse, however, does have limitations. If you get one of the six-button gaming mouse types, you can program the buttons for specific uses. A corded mouse is best. Laser tracking is superior to trackball types. The game's user-configurable menu allows specific key links to actions. Avoid use of one key for two actions!!

I use the keyboard and mouse mostly but my 360 controller is by far the best for second choice. Its useable with most new games but with pinnacle game profiler you can configure it to any. :)
