Valve just announced: WON Shutdown Timing - 26-31 at July) eariler then what they announced before (end of the summer) from "private" sources.. this step is to reserve the bandwidth for HL2 (could be downloaded through Steam) our source confirmed.. the release of HL2 will be somewhere in the middle of august (this year) or even eariler!

Starting July 26th the shutdown of the WON authentication servers will begin. This process will be completed on July 31st. This means players will no longer be able to access Internet features of Valve games, such as Counter-Strike 1.5, using the WON authentication servers. Users can continue using Valve games on the Steam service by downloading the Steam installer and setting up a Steam account.

Good grief, back-to-back D3 and HL2 possibly...finish one, on to the other 2 weeks later or so...gonna be pretty cool and an exciting time for us PC gamers...should generate an enormous buzz on the net if this is accurate come the end of this month.

w00t! teh sooner i get HL-2 the better, it's gonna be the k3wlest! I get to test my uber leet skillz against the comp and the other playaz on steam! It's gonna be the shiznit!

After waiting for this long actually holding the box, installing the game, playing it! how surreal? it deosn't seem like a game anymore. This is a LEGEND before it has even been released. It will undoubtedly be THE best game ever made.

I'm going camping ofor a week from about the 17th onward. If HL2 is released... I'm going to be very angry to miss out. I'll come back and go online only to find everyone in the world has been playing for a week!!! Arrggghhhhhhh.

I feel for G-Man as I do about Luke Skywalker in starwar games... KILL HIM!! QUICKER! KILL!

Hopefully HL2 allows me to do this as so far the other need has been denied at every turn. Will be fun anyway.
