Leave it up to the scientists to find something that we all knew already:
"Most Kids 'Unaffected' By Violent Games
Although this study only confirms what most people have always known, it is still nice to see a video game study with a common sense conclusion for a change.
A Swinburne University of Technology study of 120 children aged 11 to 15 revealed children prone to worrying, neurotic behaviour and predisposed to aggression were likely to be more aggressive after playing violent video games"

Its obvious that only psychos and mental, emo kids would actually get a gun and start shooting real life people. Like those 2 losers in Columbine.

Well, maybe it wont convince some parents (and correctly so, some games should be kept away from children) but this should shut up Jack Thompson.

Yeah, this is what we've all been saying all along, the kids who go psycho were ****** up to begin with, but this should in no way be an excuse to buy a 12 year old GTAIV or whatever else it may be.

I don't think anything will shut up Jack Thompson. I mean, obviously this study was paid for by the single-malt swilling psychopaths at Rockstar and Take 2. It's clearly flawed because it assumes that games might NOT be evil!
On a serious note, I hope they expand the study from Quake 2 (the game mentioned), as it is fairly abstract in its violence (given, though, that it is very violent), to include some more contemporary games with more real-world stylings.

Yeah, while the study is not an excuse to give 12 year old a collectors edition of Postal or GTA, it means that when a teenager goes on a violent rampage, video games shouldn't be the first ones to take the blame.
Its like that one time here in Toronto 2 idiots took their parents Mercedez and crashed it into the wall, Need for Speed Most Wanted was blamed cause it was found in the backseat.
