I went to the local electronics boutique to buy far cry. I havent bought a new game in about four months. Anyways, I was surprised to find out that I could not find the game anywhere on the shelf. They have a pretty big PC selection and have basically every game in stock. I asked the employee if they had it and he indefinately concluded that they didn't. He said I should check at the downtown EB to see if they had it there.

I went downtown and checked out the store. They have a much smaller selection but I figured farcry would be there. After some searching I found the farcry box on the wall. I was realeaved to see it there. I go up to the counter and give the box to one out of the five employees who look hard at work standing idley behind the counter. One guy goes to find the game and cant seem to find it. The other guy swears its up their somewhere. To make a boring story short, this EB didnt have the game either. Then one of the guys tries to sell me on another game and I just say I am not interested and thanks for the suggestion.

Does anyone else have some game store stories to share? :doa:

I don't buy games from stores anymore, unless it's a bargain bin game. I usually order online, but haven't bought PC games for a while now. as for the PS2 games I usually rent them from bluck buster

I learned long ago to phone first. And if I'm at one store that's out of something, I ask them to call their other store to see if it's in. Like a Walmart calling another Walmart, or an EB calling another EB. I don't like wasted time and driving around for hours looking for a game is wasted time to me.

If a store has a game, I ask them to put a copy in reserve for me until I get there.

Definately comes in handy when you have to drive 75 miles to civilization eh? :p:

I'm about 20 minutes from 4+ shops which stock computer games so that isn't too much of a problem. Although only Game really keeps its prices up to date, so I generally get them online if I can.

I have worked at Gamestop and two really good friends manage seperate Gamestops so it is VERY rare that I ever set foot into an EB. I did yesterday however to pick up an expansion to Neverwinter Nights for my wife.

Came home after teasing her on the phone that I had a gift for her but would not tell her what it was. Finally, handed it to her, she tore open the box to find.... someone had stolen the CD out of the box so all it had was the instructions. UGH!!!

In fairness, this could have happened anywhere, but wanted to share my EB story. I called them the next day and I was able to exchange it but I think I will stay at Gamestop from now on.

There used to just be a Software, Etc in the mall here across the street from where I work until just late last year or early this year a GameStop moved in across town. SE (part of GameStop since they use GS bags) I get most of my games at, and especially when they're way cheap, mostly under $10 or even $5 (which is why I've got way more games than time to play 'em--and I still buy more!). GameStop doesn't have very many PC games and SE doesn't have as many as they used to, even though they're just about all small box ones now.
