Here is the article (http://www.usatoday.com/travel/news/2006-12-10-seattle-airport-trees_x.htm)

At first, it sounds like the airport is throwing a hissy fit, but I now see the point of both sides.

I hate that Christmas has turned into a cultural PC nightmare and these bickerings show nothing of the spirit of Christmas but rather the petty fighting and quest for no one to have hurt feelings that we see year round. No wonder there is so much hate and intolerance.

The rabbi sues to have a menorah, I see his side of wanting to be represented. But I can't help but agree with the airports actions and saving their own butt. If they caved to one, then all hell could break loose with lawsuits from every other tradition. What ******** that Christmas cannot simply be celebrated without threats of lawsuits.

Since when is a tree a symbol of the Christian religion? The rabbi should have known better!

It's frickin' rediculous!

Christmas is been more of a commercial holiday than anything else.

Who is "letting" them have the trees? It has been a big misconception that the rabbi forced the airport to remove the trees. He did not. In fact, he was appalled that was the direction the airport took.

The airport itself who decided to remove the trees to prevent being sued by different religions and beliefs.

Robbie,

I think the point is that it wasn't really the rabbi's decision to put up or take down the trees.

What you are referring to is that he said he would not go forward with his threatened lawsuit. Once that was out of the way, the airport put the decorations back up.

The real end result of it all is that next year there will be Christmas trees, menorahs, Kwanzaa bushes and "It's a Small World After All" playing 24 / 7.

Next we will be able to get sued for putting up Christmas trees in our houses. Then sued for putting up Christmas lights, giving presents..

It's all a load of crap. I remember when Muslims complained here and they banned Santa from shopping centres. A girl was also told she was not allowed to wear a cross around her neck to school anymore (yet Muslims can still wear their symbols). It's total crap how society is becoming. People are so full of themselves.

These people that complain about such things obviously have nothing better to do with their lives. They have no idea what stress is and just want attention.

I flew into the Seatac Airport on Sunday. The trees look great.

.

Glad to hear it.

Christmas trees are things of beauty and they should be displayed proudly for all to see and enjoy.

Cheers, Terry
