He was recently heckled during his act at a comedy club and this was his response:

Personally, it sounds like he was attempting to make some sort of weird point about "words" (maybe like Carlin), but it didn't come out exactly right.

The start is cut off so it doesn't show what the guy said first or what anyone in the crowd did/said. Of course though, he is a stand up comedian so he should know how to cope with such situations. Saying the comments he did is going way over the top. It was on the news here in Australia!
I loved Seinfield, and it's a shame to see a character in a show i enjoyed so much act like that. He's going to find it a lot harder in life now as he just lost a LOT of fans. Not to mention how hard it'll be getting gigs as no one will want to hire someone who is racist to paying customers in the middle of the show and then walks out after a lot of the audience already has.

Here is the full interview with David Letterman (http://www.cbs.com/latenight/lateshow/dave_tv/ls_dtv_big_show_highlights.shtml)
This is something that cannot be justified. He flew off the handle and said some very bad things, at the same time so have I. Not racist things, but I have definitely made comments that I thought might be funny and I was very incorrect and hurt others. I have said things in anger that I don't mean but I knew would hurt the other people. It is hard for me to condemn someone over those particular remarks, not because he is a celebrity, but because he is human. I think his apology on Letterman was sincere, and not just in the "say anything to save myself" sort of way.

Yeah, at first, it was kind of funny (SHUT UP!!!), but as soon as the namecalling started it was just ridiculous and inexcusable.

Nothing was more awkward than his public apology. He went saying he was not a racist and such. Well i beg to differ when i saw this:

That is a full blown poor attempt at photo manipulation. Did you do that yourself?

The saddest part of this whole thing is that there are people who think Richards is a comedian.

Are you sure that wasn't just Chris Rock with a michael richards costume on? Seriously, people who take offense to things like this drive me up the wall.
