Microsoft have a warning on their website.
Take a look (http://www.microsoft.com/games/home/photosensitive_warning.aspx). Did someone try to sue them or something?

Not sure if this is old news.. thought id post about it anyway.

Yeah, I've seen that kind of warning before on games. Strangely enough mostly on older games, haven't seen it that often in newer games. It's mostly printed in the manual on the inside of the cover.

It's just a "cover their ass"/"show they care" thing.

Nintendo has a warning like this on all newer GC/GBA games and on the boot-up for the Wii and DS hardware.

Same effect can happen to a person if they go into a disco with flashing strobe lights. At a certain flash speed, the brain becomes confused and partially blocks reality in an attempt to digest the event. It can sometimes be very severe! But it is nothing new.. some people had mild siezures from watching movies in public theaters. A physician can diagnose the possible condition, and prescribe a safe medication for it.

I remeber Sega had this warning on all their games, but don't remember seeing it on games by other companies.

Those warnings are usually found in the manuals. I'm actually suprised that I cant seem to find that warning in the NWN2 game manual heh. Maybe the game is not fast enough to cause a seizure?

Remember when that Japanese cartoon gave all those kids seizures?

Damn, i can't remember any of the specifics, but it's been parodied a thousand times since then.

It was a cartoon based on Nintendo's Pocket Monsters (conspiracy theorists can begin now). Here's a link to that story (from 1997!) with a video link:

*Rattlesnake8 is resurrected by someone who walked passed.. saw several people who all were having seizures and instead of looking at the screen and having one as well, slipt around the back and turned it off.*
