Several sites reporting a confirmed Aug.3rd for Doom 3

EB Games and Gamestop's page for Doom 3 now lists this on the release date for id's first-person shooter. "Official launch date of August 3rd, 2004 confirmed!" There's no reason so far to doubt this as the release date but we're still awaiting information directly from Activision. PC.IGN have a news story on this as well. GameStop's frontpage has on it news that Doom 3 will apparently be out August 3, with a picture stating that this is the official release date. We'll try and get more information from id and Activision on this whether or not that is in fact the case. This is not of course just an estimated date on the game page, but GameStop and EB claim an official release date.

Just may happen. I checked ID's official Doom 3 website. They have a link to preorder through 3 different retailers and they all are listing first week of August availability. I'm sure we'll hear something official very soon.
