View Full Version : What am I doing wrong?

Hi all,
Im having a problem getting downloaded maps to show up in game skirmish menu.

The maps are for Emperor: Battle for Dune.
Maps are found here @ 3Dgamer:

I have successfully downloaded map pack #3 per instructions:

"1. Unzip the contents of the zip file into your Emperor's Data directory.
(I.E. if you installed Emperor onto C:\WESTWOOD\EMPEROR\ then extract the
files into C:\WESTWOOD\EMPEROR\DATA\ )

2. Run Emperor:Battle for Dune and look for the 2 new maps when you host a
multiplayer game, or play a skirmish game. They new maps appear in the map
list along with the original multiplayer maps provided with the original CDs"

The maps are indeed listed in Emperors Data directory, yet they are not listed in game with the existing [original game content] skirmish maps.

Any ideas ?

I don't have the game, so all that I could guess is that the file you'd downloaded is corrupted somehow. You may wish to try downloading it again.

Have you tried pack #4 or 5 or 6 ??

Just to double-check, make sure that you've installed the latest patch.

Being out of ideas, I'll download other map choices & see what happens....

If you were able to unzip the files, you didn't have a corrupt download.

But I'm afraid I don't know why the maps don't show up in the skirmish map list. Considering that Westwood has been closed and the official Emperor site dismantled last year, it's going to be hard to get technical support, and your best chance might be to find an Emperor fansite that still has info on this, or a forum where you can ask experienced players for help.

I too doubt that the download had any problems.

I can see the two maps I downloaded listed in :
C:\WESTWOOD\EMPEROR\DATA\

I also checked properties on maps to confirm their locations.

I know this is game specific, but shouldnt I see all the skirmish maps listed individually in this folder?
Emperor comes with aprox 50 skirmish maps on disc, yet only a few are listed there.....just curious.

A quick Google serach for "Emperor: Battle for Dune + PC games" (sans the quotes) turned up a web site that still has an active link to Westwood's FTP server where you can still download the original map pack. Maybe that will help lead you to an answer.
