This was pinned on the old Gmv Forums, so I will do likewise here.

From Chylde..

Hey everyone, I just discovered a bunch of really neat webgames, and here's two links:

http://popcap.com

That one is PopCap games, and they have a TON of java games that are simple, but tons of fun. I like Bookworm and Insanaquarium.

There's also http://www.addictinggames.com and it has links to a number of web games, like 3D pong (which is really challening) and many others.

http://www.tierraentertainment.com/

Here's another good source:

Yeah, I know it's Microsoft, but Hexic and Cubis are pretty cool:

http://zone.msn.com/default.aspx

From Gaim....

Here's a couple I've had saved in my Favorites folder...

3D Pong (http://www.liquid.se/pong/)

Free Oldies (http://www.freeoldies.com/)

MiniClip.com (http://www.miniclip.com/)

Snood (http://www.snood.com/)

Soldat (http://www.soldat.prv.pl/)

eBum's World (http://www.ebaumsworld.com/games.shtml) - a collection of Flash games.

Thangorodrim - The Angband Page (http://www.thangorodrim.net/)

This last one looks pretty interesting. I'd forgotten I had the link. I think I'll download and try it out. Maybe write a mini review. :D:

From Danthemanpr...

What are your favorite freeware games?

Mine are

Liero (http://gamehippo.com/search/search_title_1_60a877a14ab78bcdb807251064ae3323.sh tml)
Enemy Territory (http://gamehippo.com/search/search_title_1_88c53cdfdeb9a29fc37b4ca7e66ed30b.sh tml)
ChoRenSha68k (http://gamehippo.com/search/search_title_1_93c66335f6cb527f233c5424f482a908.sh tml)
Triplane Turmoil (http://gamehippo.com/search/search_title_1_342ab4bd4219d19ef0b6bb45f99ba923.sh tml)
Abuse (http://gamehippo.com/search/search_title_1_5dcb42102b5f1568a3e78930feb1bb1c.sh tml)

There are just tons of great freeware games, I practicaly spend more time playing them than retail ones (especialy Liero)

BTW, in my opinion, the best site for finding freeware game is Game Hippo (http://www.gamehippo.com)

From Zedd...

I have Bejeweled Delux registered from Popcap love that game =P

Also check out www.subspacehq.com its a free 2d online only space shooter. Just download that Continuum client (no spyware so dont worry =P) and join me in Trench Wars server =]

According to my ?usage I have 800+ hours logged in this game since 2000 =P

From Mr. Natural....

The december issue of CGW has a lengthy article on all kinds of freeware, shareware, mods, etc. Fortunately they have published it online and you can find it here. (http://www.computergaming.com/article2/0,4364,1335753,00.asp)
As I write this only mag readers have knowledge of the link right now...and those of you reading this now. It's not "officially announced" on their web site. The mag has full descriptions of the links given.

From Rattlesnake8....

Ever Wars (http://go.everwars.com/play.x?p=120176) is an online text based RPG game. Ive just signed up and getting into it over the last 10 mins or so and already attacked someone.
It looks like a lot of fun and has a lot of detail to it.

Kings of Chaos (http://www.kingsofchaos.com/recruit.php?uniqid=pqya2626) is the game ive been playing for several months now and will continue to play for a lot longer. Build an army, buy weapons and upgrade fortifications. Lots of fun, addictive and detailed.

From Yuriy...

Ok, I am sorry if someone find this post against some rules or whtever, but at this point I hve no reason to think tehre is anything against it.

This site http://www.the-underdogs.org has many old pc games which companies have released and allowed for distribution. Thats what I was told, since some game they have for download, some they provide a link where you can buy it. It has a bunch of priceless good old platformers which were lost in history, but are still fun. not just platformers but some 3d games as well.

I think you definately should check out their game lists and screenshots that come with the title.

Secondlife, its nothing like any other MMOs.... its a blank slate and you have the tools to make, quite litterally, anything. 99% of the content is player made. Best part is you can get a basic, lifetime account, absolutely free. They do require CC info to verify age, its a mature game. They do have teen version though, which you can find a link to where the map rolls up. So check it out.

well this one is free ...
it's based on classic "Total Annihilation" concept but in new engine (allowing 4 types of camera view with absolute freedom and advanced building system)
supports 10 unique commanders + 6 more players sharing units (total 16) and so on ...
it's free (opensource) ...
and there are multiple mods already like Absolute Annihilation, UberHack etc.

this one is becoming the most famous free game :

http://www.3dgamers.com/games/trackmania/

TrackMania is a brand new concept, where the player enters a crazy universe of track building, puzzles and breakneck driving.
There are so many players onlibe that the servers are a bit overloaded ( so its quite long to play online games) but you can try the solo and mapping part while servers problem are solved!

i am very surprised that no one has mentioned www.pogo.com yet... It's a collection of alot of free games and has a HUGE community to join... There are games to DL but main page is a bunch of browser based games... You can even talk to other people that are also playing the same game as You... There are both single and multi-player games (though most of the multi-player games You can play with bots)... Every time You play a game, You recieve tokens and You can use these tokens in the daily, weekly, and monthly lotteries that they have... You can pay to have a membership there and get access to other member only games as well as have Your own avatar type thing and can purchase things like clothes for it with Your tokens... You can earn badges and all sorts of stuff... i personally have a membership there and it's the BEST when it comes to taking breaks at work or a little time off from intensity or repitition of Your fave 3D games...

Im still playing Kings of Chaos (http://www.kingsofchaos.com/recruit.php?uniqid=g56i94d8) which is a FREE web based online game. I find it fun, been playing for a few AGES now.. (currently in Age 6). You build armies, train them, buy weapons and attack, recon, sabotage, make or break alliences.. the game is a lot of fun.

Warning: It is rather addictive and makes me late to work cause i check it each morning to spend the gold thats build up over the night on weapons.

You can also become officers of other people, meaning you'll have a commander.. and you can recruit officers under you.

New age of Kings of Chaos has started.

Join me in this war (http://www.kingsofchaos.com/recruit.php?uniqid=837ztdhr).

It's a fun browser based game which has been around for a number of years. Take a look, if you don't like it you can always just stop playing. You can spend as long or as little time playing as you want. Currently i am in an alliance and we have our own forums where we all hang out it.

We participate in wars with other alliances.. fun game which i've been playing for many ages. Age 7 has just started so it's the best time to join up.

That game was cool till it was exploited through link sharing on IRC. I mean, I could raise thousands of troops a day because of it.

Yeah but it's not classified as cheating.. there are clickers/recruiters which are downloadable and you click other peoples links. In return other people click yours. It's not cheating cause you can still only click a link once within 24 hours.

It does mean you can get troops very quickly. Last age i didn't use any recruiters but this age i am. You should start playing again.

Cortex Command. Defend your brain from marauding jackasses. Its pixel-based physics engine is impressive at times, and enraging in others, but it's a blast either way.

It'll take some time to get used to, but just be glad they added mouse aiming. Makes the game billions times easier without a gamepad.

I play the following browser games, they include building up bases, armies, getting resources, upgrading, dimplomacy etc etc. If anyones interested in playing, let me know. Also an update for KOC which i posted above.. our chain has grown and our alliance is doing VERY well. Anyone interested PM me and join us. I've also now been promoted to Deputy Leader.

Great sci fi game. Colonise other planets, build up fleets, upgrade and attack other players.

http://www.travian.com/
Travian is a browser game featuring a world with thousands of other real players. One begins the game acting as a chief of a tiny village.

http://www.stars-empire.com/
Another sci fi one.. more complex than OGame cause instead of just choosing what ship to build you actually get to choose the parts. You choose the shell, then what engines, weapons, modules etc. There are several different types of each thing you can add. (EG: Several types of weapons, engines, modules) and each of them can be upgraded to higher levels).

http://www.callofcombat.com/
Some game i just found and am currently registering at. It's a 3D war game. Looks interesting. Not another browser based game like those above.

Hi I'm Ron, the creator of a (Relatively) new browser based game called WarGames 2.0.

We're currently a small community of around 400 players (Though growing by 20-30 players a day for a week already), and I wanted to invite you guys to join and play. Also, every user comment, bug complaint, idea or suggestion for the game is read, and lots of those posts are actually implemented into the game.

There's a really thorough tutorial you can take, or you can choose to skip it if you want to get owned :)

To celebrate the upcoming release of Fortress Forever, I decided to go to the trouble of compiling the original Team Fortress game with a huge repertoire of upgrades, making it look and play most beautifully. ZelTF is ready to download, ready to play, and as it doesnt include the original Quake 1 pak file, its 100% free.

Australians and NZers! Whilst downloading head to irc.enterthegame.com #oztf & #zeltf

Can't wait to see a fresh league of newbies (and maybe some oldschool returnees) eager to learn the greatest game on earth!

THIS IS NOT SPAM! ITS FREE AND I TYPED THIS MYSELF.
sorry if its a bit advertish - just how i feel about the game.

STARWARS Battle of Yavin & STARWARS Battle of Endor

Probably the best FREEWARE games based on STARWARS movie series

http://www.bruneras.com/screenshots/endor07.jpg http://www.bruneras.com/screenshots/endor05.jpg http://www.bruneras.com/screenshots/endor12.jpg

http://www.bruneras.com/screenshots/yavin11.jpg http://www.bruneras.com/screenshots/yavin07.jpg http://www.bruneras.com/screenshots/yavin08.jpg

Both games can be described as 3D Space Battle simulation based on Episodes IV, V and VI of the Starwars series.

You fly as Luke Skywalker in your X-Wing on the grand scale attack to the legendary Death-Star (Battle of Yavin, or

BoY) or engage the enemy Tie-fighter with Hun Solo over the forest moon of Endor (Battle of Endor, or BoE). Both

epic battle games are designed and created by Mr. Bruno Marcos and can be downloaded from his web site free.
In addition various people have worked on advancing the models and graphics of both games.
You steer your craft using the mouse thus having a high maneuver control and movement in the 3D game space. Arcade

game style gives an exciting gameplay and gives the impression that you are flying in the movie. The game’s

stage progression will not take let you drop the fight, as the difficulty gradually increases.
I believe there is no better STARWARS game available as a freeware, that can also compete with the official game

titles. I suggest this game to gamers who like 3D space battle games and of course to all Starwars fans.
Best thing is that both games are freeware with very low computer system requirements and can be downloaded from

the following links:

You can download the original games here:

or

http://www.bruneras.com/

Don’t be disappointed from the simple graphics and models because many funs have worked in advancing the graphics

and model detail making it competitive with all of today’s major official titles.
As it is likely to get lost on the web while searching for high graphics modifications I present you a set of

compiled package for each game, that includes the work of more than six people, including my self. These

compilations include the best set of models by my opinion.

Both of the games graphics detail has dramatically advanced

Below you can see some screen shots of the final version of the games:

This modification set is closer to the models and colors of the crafts in the movies and does not overload the PC’s

performance much. I recon a system with CPU P4 3.0GH, 512Mb RAM, nVidia FX (128Mb) is more than capable to run well

with the final set of graphics.

You can download the graphic modification set for each game below:

STARWARS - The Battle Of Yavin v11 FULL MOD

STARWARS - The Battle Of Endor v21 FULL MOD.rar
download: http://w13.easy-share.com/1805671.html

The original games are not included in the above packages.

Please inform me for lost link.

Both the compressed packages are in a .rar form, which means that you will need either 7-zip (www.7-zip.org) or WinRAR (www.WinRAR.com) to unpack.
Both modification packages include installation instructions but they do not include the original games, so make sure you download (http://w13.easy-share.com/2089881.html) and install them first on your hard drive (C:|\Program files).

Enjoy the games and . . .

May the Force be with you!

These games are free and free of ads: Retro Sabotage (http://www.retrosabotage.com)

They're 3 minutes games, but got quite some punchlines if you're not too young to games' History.

Hint: start with the Space Invaders mashups...

When I'm not only on Steam (which is most of the time these days) I am usually at a Flash games site, kongregate.com

There are many things I like about it, particularly their resources and support for people just getting involved/considering/etc. making Flash games. When I'm there, I can usually be found in the Difference Engine chatroom. I have the same username and am a volunteer mod there.

World of Tanks in theory should be a free game, however they will have a gold system upon release in 5 days. Should still be free to play.

I was killing some time today and noticed 2 good flight sims at home of the underdogs. Falcon 3.0 and F15 strike eagle 3 which I used to own long ago. But being DOS games realized they wouldn't run on my 64 bit OS.

I then stumbled into Free Falcon which is a free flight sim created by Falcon 4.0 enthusiasts. If you're into flight sims this looks like it might be worth checking out.

Its a nice enough game, Mr. N. The viewpoint is rubbish though, it is impossible to line up some of the shots right, first time.
