This could be the most important news story we read all year.
Russian President Vladimir Putin just came out in public and openly admitted that Russian intel had made definite connections between Saddam and plans for terrorist attacks on U.S. soil before and after 9/11. These plans may not have been in a coordinated effort with bin Laden but they most certainly show Hussein's intent and the very real threat that he posed.
Here is a link to the full story that Reuters Worldwide is distributing as of this morning:

Combined with the recent U.N. report which concludes that Saddam probably DID hide and/or smuggle WMD out of his country prior to our attack and the undeniable atrocities he, his sons and his regime heaped on the Iraqi people for three decades, in addition to his gassing of the Kurds and his invasion of Kuwait - I challenge anyone to tell me that our mission there has NOT been just.
Cheers, Terry

Yep, saw the news over on the Drudge report. This is just another nail in the coffen of the "Liberal left wind anti war movement" and another issue denied to John Kerry for his attack machine. This shows that George W. Bush was justified in going to war with Iraq.

In another solid development in that direction just this afternoon, Senator John McCain who Kerry recently unsuccessfully courted as a potential VP running mate gave a very strong public speech in front of our troops with Bush seated just behind him to essentially endorse the president and show total support for his anti-terrorist efforts and his decision to oust the Taliban in Afghanistan and to do the same with Saddam in Iraq.

This comes at a crucial time in the re-election campaign when general economic news in America is getting a little better each day and we are systematically moving toward the handover of power to the new interim Iraqi government - exactly as promised. We are also FINALLY getting some true support at the highest international levels with that previously mentioned U.N. report, with stepped-up Saudian anti-terror initiatives, with court martials for at least some of the guilty soldiers in the Iraqi prisoner abuse cases to help serve as examples and with a growing concern here and throughout the world that bin Laden and his various tentacle-like terrorist arms are not nearly done yet. The result is that Bush's job approval rating and overall popularity have in fact increased measurably over the past few weeks.
In a sad but timely turn of events, Bush also seems to have benefitted from all the recent publicity surrounding Ronald Reagan's death as he and his family were indeed very close to the Reagans and did deservedly catch some of the reflected glow.
AND NOW FOR MY RANT, YOU HAVE BEEN FAIRLY WARNED...
On an even sadder note, as we have all just learned, another American civilian was beheaded today by the filthiest of all excuses for human beings - Al Queda. This serves as another starkly shocking reminder about exactly who we are fighting and why we can NOT let up or ignore even the slightest trace of support for such monsters anywhere in the world. It also reminds us just how evil they are and that they truly do want to acquire WMDs at all costs to use asap on you, me and our children, and that they will attack again and again in Europe, in the Middle East, in Asia and anywhere else they can with no remorse - actually with vile, sniveling, bloodthirsty glee.
Bush understands this mindnumbing reality and is in fact doing all he can to stop it. He has steered a straight and steady course since the shocking events of 9/11 and he is making real progress on many fronts. If that also happens to infringe on a few of my cherished personal rights, causes me some temporary discomfort or inconvenience, or a higher tax bill to support our troops and help pay for it all, then I for one am proud as hell to oblige. And if these necessary measures step on Michael Moore's fat, little twinky toes, he can just get the hell out of the way and go screw himself - as can every other ultra liberal, whiney, cowardly, flag burning moron out there. He and they have NO clue how serious this situation is and instead of trying to help, people like that media whoring, two-faced, double chinned, fat ass windbag are getting even richer off of their trumped up, over blown "documentaries" and other self-serving trash.
May they all go straight to hell where they belong.

Let's not lose perspective here either. Bush isn't the ONLY one who understands the need to hammer these terrorist scum wherever they hide. It isn't like if Al Gore were President we'd all be reading the Koran right now.
Yes, Bush's drive to weed out the terrorists has been ..... good. But when internal documents naming terrorist-supporting countries has Saudi Arabia blacked out before it goes public, it doesn't exactly instill me with great confidence that Bush isn't also pandering to his oil pimps (aka Saudi Princes) at the risk of ignoring real terrorist support and threats and from that country.
I've always supported Bush's decision to go in and remove Saddam. But I've never supported the manner in which he did it. He never had a plan of what to do once we'd won the war. First he tried getting UN support, but because he'd done such an amazingly spectacular job of insulting and alienating so many other countries, no UN support was forthcoming. And after his grossly premature announcement that the war in Iraq was "over", and after the US military continued to suffer more deaths after that time than before his announcement, only then did he just basically throw up his hands and say that he was turning Iraq over to whatever government they could toss together by the end of June.
I've always said that those countries that opposed the war (France, Germany, China) were doing it out of unfounded, HIGHLY selfish reasons. And I've always agreed that even if nobody else wanted to help, we should go it alone. But I've never agreed to the way Bush managed to alienate the rest of the world against us in a way not seen since the Vietnam debacle.
Yes, Bush deserves credit for sticking to his guns, seeing things through and not backing down. But he also deserves credit for blundering his way through it. And I'll also give Bush credit for working a lot harder in the Oval Office than he ever thought he'd have to when he'd decided to run.

Did you intentionally forget Russia? You know, the ones (along with France) who maintained political and economic ties with Iraq....

Bush does not possess this sense of good judgement. That's why I voted for Gore in 2000, and why I plan on voting for Kerry in November.

Rush is only like that when he's whacked on his pain killers.....the rest of the time he's 1/2 step above Ann Coulter.
I consider Lou a far more reasonable person than those two.
