Hello guys/gals!
I just showed Desert Combat (BF1942 mod) to a buddy of mine and his jaw droped to the floor. Turns out he now wants to play games on his PC. What's funny though is that he used to be the guy I used to have my violent console vs PC arguments.

So, on to the technical details. His current computer is as follows:
Athlon XP 2200+
512mb DDR RAM
80 Maxtor drive
Who knows what mobo he's got.
He has a crappy GeforceFX 5200 or something like that. The cards that sell for like 70 bucks.

So he wants to get a new vid card for around 150 US dollars. What do you think he should get? He could get an ATI 9600pro 256mb in a local store. By local I mean crosing the international border :):

For that amount, the ATI 9600 Pro is better than the comperable nVidia cards. That's exactly what I'd suggest to him. The 9600 Pro card beats the nVidia FX 5600 Ultra card.

It's got enough power to run even the latest/greatest games at near max settings and is DX9 compatible.

Yep, 9600pro or 9600XT
