_xeno_ writes "The last release candidate was apparently good enough, because Mozilla Firefox 0.9 has now been officially released. New features since 0.8 are, of course, basically the same as in the Release Candiate, including the new Pinstripe theme for Windows and the GTK+ installer for Linux users. The biggest change since the Release Candiate is that this release should ask you to migrate your profile instead of just trashing it. So head over to the Firefox homepage and get downloading, or check out the Release Notes to find out exactly what's new." mE123 adds "You can get it from plain old HTTP or from fancy new BitTorrent", and points out that (compared to 0.8), "this release includes tons of bug/stability fixes, a %3 speed up, a new theme and plugin management system, a new standard windows theme, and a smaller windows installer."

I just downloaded and installed and first impressions are very favorable. I've already deleted Mozilla 1.6 and plan on making this my primary browser. The TV show "The Screensavers" had a preview of the browser last night and featured hundreds of plug-ins available for the browser. Read the show notes if you like. One really cool extension is "adblock". Once installed you can right click on a banner ad and disable. It will never show up again when you visit the site. Popup blocking of course is still included.
Note if you have a previous version of Firefox on your pc, you must uninstall the older version before installing the new, or problems will result.

Herr N,
Does the Ad Blocking leave a little red X in place of it, or make it totally blank? I used an ad-killer back in the day and the red x's ended up being just as annoying as the ads themselves hehe.

I believe it replaces them with transparency (i.e, a transparent picture of the same size)

Leaves it totally blank. Just an empty space where the ad would normally show.
