Wow, on top of all the other cool stuff we've heard about the interface*, your base will also sort of automatically regenerate.
Enemy attack tears a hole in your defenses?
No problem!
Your C-units will automatically start repairing and rebuilding the structures to make the base the way it was prior to the attack, so you can focus on retaliating against your enemy!
* = If you don't know what other cool innovations the game contains in its interface, you need simply ask and i shall educate you.

It looks decent.
Good
Graphics
UI
Experimental Units
Large maps
Bad
The maps look a bit too flat and don''t seem to offer much of a variation in elevation.
Aside form the experimental units, the units all seem pretty generic to me. Even the experimental units are a bit to similar for my taste. The saucer and the spider thing both appear to use a beam weapon.
Frankly, the presentation of combat is none too impressive. The explosions and terrain damage are the only high point, as all the weapon affects don't look very impressive.
All the streamlining that they're doing seems like it's going to take away the fun. Before you know it, it'll be "the computer now plays the whole game for you!"
I'de also like to add that the video suggests that the game sufferers from performance issues. So, while it probably won't "own your sou", it will own your computer. Given that the game will be released in a couple months, I don't think it's reasonable to expect much of an improvement in optimization.
That's for all the E2160 bashing, Sno. ;)

Can't wait for this.

I think this is a great thing. What comes to mind is games like civilization where you can automate many tasks, so that you don't spend all your time micromanaging everything. You never get to the point where the computer is playing the game for you.

SupCom won't be taking any of the control away from you.
You'll still plan your base and make grand strokes of strategy, but once you've got things running, it'll be smart and keep itself running smoothly.
Bases will rebuild themselves after attacks back up to your original specifications, different battle groups will manage their speed in order to arrive in battle at the same time, etc, etc.
They're taking away none of the depth or control, they're just excising the tedius micromanagement that has plagued the RTS genre. It's really an evolution of the kind of ideas present in Total Annihilation, ideas which the competition had only begun to catch up with in recent years.

Yeah, you were...
E2160 was the biggest let down in the history of PC Gaming. :doa:
