I've got WinXP Home on an HP system I'd bought a couple of years ago. And It's done something that's always kinda irritated me...

Whenever a page finishes loading it resets to it's default scroll location.

Example...

When I go to view the C:\WINDOWS directory I'll start to scroll down the list of files and folders before the entire page is finished loading. But the instant that the page has finished loading it resets to the default view by insta-scrolling back to the top of the page. Which means that I have to scroll back down the page a second time before I can look at the file/folder in the list that I wanted to look at. It pretty much does this with any page/window that I'm viewing.

Anyone know of a way to prevent this ??

I'd noticed that this problem doesn't occur on Win98/ME systems.

Oy.......I had this ages, ages, ages ago.....and don't remember what I did.

Right off the top of my head (I don't think this is it, but I'm so-so w/ this stuff);

Explorer >> Tools >> Folder options >> View

If it's not already, select "Remeber each folder's view settings"

If it is, I'll have to dig deeper into the vancant hole that is my memory....

Thanks for the effort !!

I've had that little option selected already. After looking around the various folder options, I must say that I'm still miffed about preventing the window reset. Perhaps this is just an unchangeable feature of WinXP Home ??

Nope, differences between home and pro don't extend to the shell, it's pretty much all lower level. :)

I may just have to send a mail to the shell team internally, my mind is just a gaping maw today.....
