Currently I am using Mozilla 1.6 and am pleased with it. I notice on their website however they have a new browser that they are working on, Firefox .8. Has anyone used Firefox? If so, what are your thoughts and what are the major differences to Mozilla 1.6.

Firefox rocks. Its the fastest browser I've used, and it has smoothest, best controls of any browser. The big downside is that because it is still in development, it has many missing or incomplete features. My main gripes are that I can't get download accelerators to work with it, and I can't get the spellcheck to work either. But once those kinks are worked out, it will become my browser of choice. Go ahead and give it a wirl - I'm sure you'll like it.
I don't too much care for mozilla 1.6 - I just don't see that it has any advantage over Avant browser (my long-time favorite)

Firefox is great, there is one flaw (or feature as they call it) that reverted me back to using IE.
When you middle click on something, it will open it in a new tab. Now seems cool and all, but I am constantly middle clicking to bring up the scroll thing that allows you to move your move and the scrolling follow it.
All the sudden my browsing will slow to a crawl and I will notice that there are 4 tabs open loading things I didn't mean to click.
If it wasn't for that, I would use it regularly.

Big firefox fan here.
I didn't know about the middle click thing, I gotta start using that. I think ctrl-click does that also.

My only complaint right now with Mozilla is some java based websites keep asking me to reinstall Flash (mainly some of the features on the usatoday website) but I love tabbed browsing, which was the biggest draw that pulled me away from IE.

I like the middle click thingy. The thing that turned me off was that it stopped working sometimes. I think you can turn it off and just use ctr-click.
Like I said, its sort of a buggy mess right now, but once the bugs are worked out I'll be dumping IE-based surfing forever.
EDIT: I forgot to mention, it blocks pop-ups flawlessly!

I use Opera. It is the fastest browser I've tried, and it has all the features I need. There's no way I'll ever touch IE again. All that gives me is spyware and adware and opens my computer up to thousands of extra threats. Plus it is extremely outdated, and does not support most current Web standards. It also has a very small list of features. I mean, come on, it doesn't even have a pop-up blocker yet! Every other modern browser does.
You can download Opera at http://www.opera.com
Also blocks pop-ups flawlessly, and has a great password manager, IRC client, and mail client included! It's still a very small download, at 3.4MB without Java.

I am kinda glad it doesnt have a pop up blocker. Once the most popular browser in the world stops blocking pop ups, the pop up advertisers will start doing something else to piss us off.

I mostly use Netscape 7.1 and sometimes Firefox, which is NS's little cousin, so they have many of the same features, though Firefox intentionally has less of 'em, which is why it's a faster browser. I very seldom get onto IE itself, though I also have the SBC Yahoo browser since that's also my ISP, but I seldom use it, too. It also uses a form of IE though with a totally different look to it, and even has a pop-up blocker. Why IE doesn't have that, or tabbed browsing (SBC lacks this, too), is beyond me. MS is so damn lazy. The only good thing about IE, IMO, is that you can download (unless it's now included automatically) Girafa, which opens up a window to the left when you use a search engine and the frontpages of most hits is displayed on it.
